On 4 November 2021, the Ministry of Justice of Japan, in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) Japan Chapter, held an online seminar titled “Strategy of International Arbitration/Litigation in IP Cross-Border Disputes — reference to training video by Ministry of Justice” to promote the training video featuring mock arbitration and mediation (Watch the video here.).
During the seminar, Mr. TAKATORI Yoshihiro, an attorney at law, who also narrates the video, explained the cases and issues covered in the video. Mr. Alex Chachkes, an attorney at law, who participated in the video as a counsel, shared the advantages and disadvantages of litigation and arbitration in IP disputes as well as key considerations for arbitration clauses. This was followed by a panel discussion between Mr. Chachkes and Mr. Takatori. This seminar was highly valuable not only to deepen understanding of the video but also to learn more about international arbitration and mediation. Please have a look at the seminar video (link to YouTube Ministry of Justice channel) and presentation materials used during the seminar posted at the bottom of this page.
