Kyoto Congress Ancillary Meeting on “The Rule of Law and International Arbitration /Mediation”

To realize a society where the rule of law is firmly established, it is necessary to develop fair and equitable dispute resolution procedures not only in the field of criminal justice but also in the field of civil and commercial law. To promote international arbitration and mediation, which have recently become global standards for dispute resolution procedures in international commercial transactions, the Ministry of Justice of Japan, in collaboration with the Japan Federation of Bar Associations and the Japan Association of Arbitrators (JAA), held an ancillary meeting at the Kyoto Congress titled “The Rule of Law and International Arbitration/ Mediation” with support from the Japan International Dispute Resolution Center (JIDRC) and the Japan Commercial Arbitration Association (JCAA).

Following opening remarks by Mr. UEDA Hidetomo, Vice President of the Japan Federation of Bar Associations, presentations were given as follows.

The event concluded successfully with an active Q&A session featuring numerous questions.
